Mountain towns in Colorado have seen an influx of development in recent years. Much of it has been concentrated in tourism or luxury housing, which has driven up costs and pushed out many locals. Rico has largely avoided that fate, and is proud of it. A new land sale could change that.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis was in Southwest Colorado on Tuesday, including a stop in Rico where he met with the town’s volunteer fire department.
