The city of Cortez will be working to revise its water conservation plan during 2018. Public Works Director Phil Johnson told the city council at a workshop Tuesday night that the plan was adopted by ordinance in 2010 and is due to be revamped. Despite the fact that area snowpack is currently at less than half its historic average, Johnson said the city will not run short of water because it utilizes municipal and industrial water, which has a higher priority than irrigation. Johnson said the city is close to meeting all four goals it set in the 2010 plan, and can set new ones if it chooses. The process is expected to take much of the year and will include public comment.
