The Dolores School District has chosen an interim superintendent.
Phil Kasper’s nomination comes a little over a week after the school board and interview committee spoke with four candidates. The Journal reports that Kasper has 40 years in education, including as director of McKinley County School in Gallup, New Mexico. Among his goals for the Dolores district is to improve curriculum to benefit test scores. The district’s previous superintendent, Scott Cooper, resigned in May to accept a job in Grand Junction. Cooper was also under pressure for his handling of public complaints against athletic director Chris Trusler’s treatment of students.
