The Montezuma-Cortez High School Homecoming parade was almost cancelled this year...again. But the community came together to make it happen after all. And with so much controversy and division in society these days, homecoming was a reminder of how important it is, both for students and the community, to come together.
Kemper Elementary School in Cortez was locked down and evacuated on Wednesday due to an armed standoff between police and an unknown suspect at a house adjacent to the school. All students were evacuated safely.
Students in Montezuma County are heading back to in-person classes on August 16th. This marks the second year schools have had to contend with the pandemic and ever-evolving public health guidelines.
