A member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe is being sought in the killing of a 7-year-old boy in Towaoc. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the man’s arrest and conviction. The agency announced Monday that a federal arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 19 for 23-year-old Jeremiah Hight. He has been charged with murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to crimes of violence. Zamias Lang, who was a student at Children’s Kiva Montessori Charter School in Cortez, died after being shot in his home in the early-morning hours on Dec. 11. The FBI’s online wanted poster says the child “was struck and killed in a shooting targeted at a residence.” No other details were available and the arrest warrant is reportedly sealed. According to the online announcement, Hight is 6 feet tall, weighs approximately 400 pounds, and has tattoos on his neck, torso, shoulders, arms and right leg. He reportedly may go to Monument Valley, Utah, where he has ties. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.
