Good morning!
I’m Lacy McKay, and here’s the KSJD Outdoor Report for Tuesday, April 28th.
Unsettled spring weather is on the way for the Four Corners this week, according to the National Weather Service. Expect scattered afternoon showers and isolated storms, especially in the mountains.
Today, temperatures will warm slightly with highs near or just below average for late April. A weak system will move through on Wednesday, increasing chances of rain in the valleys and light snow above 9,000 feet—especially in the Uintas and central Colorado high country.
The best opportunity for valley rain will occur Wednesday night into Thursday, as a front moves through, with mountain areas possibly seeing a light slushy coating. Looking ahead to the weekend, another stronger and colder storm is expected, bringing gusty winds, mountain snow, and a chance for widespread rain. There's also a possibility of a late spring freeze in the valleys early next week.
Stay tuned to Morning Edition on KSJD from 7-9 AM for further updates throughout the week as this system develops.
Stay safe out there!
