Mesa Verde National Park is currently closed because of the government shutdown, but no one told the foliage.

Cool fall weather continues today, with highs running below normal across northern areas and near normal elsewhere. Skies will stay mostly sunny, though some breezy afternoon winds up to 25 miles per hour are possible. Tonight, temperatures will drop sharply—especially across northwest Colorado, where a Freeze Watch is in effect and subfreezing temperatures are expected by early Tuesday morning.

By tomorrow, sunshine and warmer air begin to return, kicking off a gradual warming trend that will bring temperatures back above normal by midweek. Dry conditions will hold for most of the week, but by Friday and into the weekend, moisture from the Pacific will begin moving in, bringing a chance for more widespread rain—and possibly a few thunderstorms—especially in the mountains.
