Snow Clears Today, Colder Temperatures and More Storms on the Way

Ways To Subscribe

Snow is tapering off across the high country this morning, but many mountain roads are still snowpacked and slick after last night’s cold front. CDOT cameras show tough conditions in spots, so commuters should take it slow. Skies will gradually clear as we head toward midday, with sunshine returning across much of the region. Even so, temperatures will run five to ten degrees colder than yesterday as one of the season’s coldest air masses settles in.

Tonight, clear skies and fresh snowpack will also bring some of the coldest lows of the season to the mountain basins.

This quiet stretch won’t last long. Another winter storm is lining up for tomorrow afternoon through Thursday, bringing more mountain snow—starting first in northeast Utah and northwest Colorado before spreading south. Early projections show a couple of inches by Tuesday evening, with additional rounds continuing midweek.

Looking ahead, the pattern stays cool and unsettled into the weekend, with yet another wave by Friday that could bring decent orographic snowfall to the northern ranges. Stay tuned for updates as these systems get closer.
