Annual Christmas Bird Count Begins December 14 Across the Four Corners

Ways To Subscribe

The annual Christmas Bird Count kicks off this Sunday, December 14th, and birders across the Four Corners are gearing up to take part in one of the world’s longest-running community science projects. Organized by the Audubon Society, the count mobilizes thousands of volunteers to track winter bird populations and long-term environmental change. Local count circles include Bears Ears National Monument, Cortez, and Durango, each offering opportunities for both seasoned birders and beginners to contribute. Participation is free, and information on how to sign up is available through Audubon and local conservation groups.

LP recently moved to the Four Corners from Austin, Texas, where they worked as a Case Manager for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in HOA property management where they were fortunate to learn many different styles of communication and creative thinking/problem solving. In their time away from work, they watch a ton of movies (spanning all decades, nationalities, and genres), and tries to listen to one really good album every day.
