San Juan National Forest hiring seasonal recreation workers

Ways To Subscribe

The San Juan National Forest is hiring seasonal employees for the upcoming recreation season and is encouraging local residents to apply. Officials say seasonal crews play a key role in keeping campgrounds, trails, and recreation sites open, safe, and welcoming for visitors across the region.

The forest is recruiting for a range of positions, including recreation and visitor services, trail and facility maintenance, and active resource management. These hires are in addition to seasonal fire positions already being filled.

Forest Supervisor Steve Hattenbach says the jobs offer hands-on experience, meaningful work, and a chance to support public lands close to home. He adds that seasonal positions can be a first step toward a career in natural resources — or simply a way to spend the summer working outdoors.

Job postings are expected to go live February 20 on USAJobs.gov. Application deadlines, qualifications, and start dates will vary by position, and applicants are encouraged to review postings carefully. More information about seasonal hiring and recruitment events is available through the San Juan National Forest website.
