Showers, Storms and Fire Concerns Shape Four Corners Forecast

Ways To Subscribe

A more unsettled weather pattern is sticking around the Four Corners today, with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms across the region. Forecasters say widespread cloud cover and moisture moving in from the south will help fuel storm development through the afternoon.

Most areas will likely see periods of showers and cooler temperatures, but stronger storms are possible north of Interstate 70, where some sunshine could help storms intensify. The main concerns will be gusty winds, small hail, and pockets of heavier rain.

For most places, that rainfall will be welcome. But weather officials say heavy downpours over recent burn scars and other sensitive areas could create isolated flash flooding concerns.

The wetter weather won't stick around long. Starting Wednesday, conditions are expected to shift toward a hotter, drier, and windier pattern. Fire weather concerns are expected to increase across parts of eastern Utah and the Four Corners through the end of the week, with gusts potentially reaching 30 to 40 miles per hour.
