The Delta Variant Of COVID-19 Is Surging Nationwide. Southwest Health System's Marc Meyer Discusses Its Implications For Montezuma County.

The Delta Variant is now making up the vast majority of the COVID-19 cases in the US and right here in Montezuma County, where we may be seeing the beginning of a surge in the virus. KSJD news spoke with Marc Meyer, head of infection control and vaccinations at Southwest Health System here in Cortez about the Delta Variant locally.

August 19, 2021: According to Meyer, Southwest Health System has not yet had to accept any patients from New Mexico. But the hospital is seeing an increase in COVID patients this week, with 5 hospitalizations on Monday, August 16. Meyer anticipates local COVID cases to continue to increase, mainly among the unvaccinated.
