Proposal to Sell Federal Lands for Housing Faces Backlash

The Trump administration has proposed selling federal public lands to address budget concerns and build affordable housing. However, conservation advocates argue that these solutions fail to tackle the core issues. One proposal suggests selling Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands near cities of 5,000 or more, but critics like Aaron Kindle of the National Wildlife Federation point out that this plan would increase pressure on wildlife habitats and lack proper infrastructure. Recent polls show more than 80% of Western voters oppose such measures.

Rocky Mountain Community Radio’s Caroline Llanes reports on the concerns surrounding this controversial proposal.
