Boulder Climate Justice Group Faces Uncertainty After Losing Federal Grant

A Boulder-based climate justice group is facing an uncertain future after losing critical federal funding. FLOWS—Foundations for Leaders Organizing for Water and Sustainability—was awarded a $250,000 grant through the Inflation Reduction Act to support environmental work in low-income and marginalized communities.

The grant was part of a national effort to invest in communities disproportionately impacted by pollution and environmental hazards. But with the funding now rescinded, the group’s ability to continue its work is in jeopardy.

FLOWS founder Michelle Gabrieloff-Parish told KGNU’s Jackie Sedley that the loss of support undermines the progress made in building local climate resilience and empowering frontline communities.

The story was shared with KSJD by Rocky Mountain Community Radio.
