A 62-year-old Dove Creek man was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash involving  a truck driven by an Arizona man on Highway 491 about one mile west of Dove Creek.

According to the Colorado State Patrol’s report, Stan Daves was headed east toward Dove Creek at about 1:30 on his tractor, towing a seeding implement, when the Ford F150 coming up behind him struck the machine on its left rear corner. The impact caused the tractor to roll, pinning Daves beneath it. He was dead upon being extricated. The truck’s driver, 68-year-old Justin Daye of Lupton, Arizona, was not injured. The State Patrol says the crash, which shut down Highway 491 for several hours, is still under investigation but drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
