The Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project, a local nonprofit, has received a $42,000 grant from the USDA’s Local Food Promotion Program to evaluate the feasibility of a mobile cider press.

The press would be used to extract juice from apples in the orchard rather than at a central processing facility. The trial, which will begin this fall, will involve the only mobile juicing unit in the country.
