The longtime head of the Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado has died at the age of 66.
Ed Morlan had retired in September after 27 years with the nonprofit district. Morlan, who helped found the Southwest Colorado Accelerator Program for Entrepreneurs, or SCAPE, also served five terms on the Bayfield Town Board. His death was reportedly the result of complications following eye surgery.
