Paths To Mesa Verde Will Have First Meeting Thursday

Montezuma County Commission

Montezuma County has set its first community meeting on a proposed multi-use, non-motorized trail between Mancos and Cortez.

Although the exact route has not been chosen, the path is envisioned as running along the Highway 160 corridor and connecting sites such as the county fairgrounds, the Phil’s World bike trail , and Mesa Verde National Park. The proposed route has been named one of the 16 highest-priority trails in Colorado. However, completing it will require overcoming hurdles such as rugged terrain, possible conflicts with private landowners, and, of course, funding. The public meeting will take place Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Mancos Town Hall. Another meeting is planned for Cortez, but has not been scheduled yet.
