The third weekend in May 2017 brought plummeting temperatures to the Four Corners area. As a cold front moved in, a weather station at the Cortez Airport reported a low of 31 on Thursday night, 26 on Friday night, and 28 on Saturday night. While those temperatures are not uncommon in May, they seriously damaged fruit crops in local orchards. Jude Schuenemeyer with Montezuma Orchard Resoration Project joined KSJD's Austin Cope on Morning Edition to talk more about the effects of the freeze.
