Colorado State Senate Considers Bill to Support Rural Broadband

A bill to help fund broadband development in rural Colorado is making its way through the Colorado State Senate. On Thursday morning, lawmakers voted in support of Senate Bill 2. The measure would take money from a fund previously supporting telephone service, and allocate it to municipalities of fewer than 7,500 people to pay for broadband infrastructure development. Colorado State Senator Don Coram is a co-sponsor of the bill, and says it will help spur economic growth. The bill is scheduled for another hearing in the Senate, and if passed, will move to the House for further consideration.
