A bill is making its way through the Colorado State Capitol that would fund efforts to promote rural broadband. In the meantime, governments in rural regions southwestern Colorado are continuing to talk about the benefits of faster internet. On Tuesday, February 20th, the City of Cortez is planning an event, intended especially for local officials and candidates for local office, to share more information about the benefits of broadband. KSJD’s Austin Cope spoke with Cortez Mayor Karen Sheek and Southwest Council of Governments Executive Director Myriam Gillow-Wiles, about how their efforts are going.
