What’s being called “a potential weapon-related issue” involving a local youth in the Montezuma-Cortez School District was raised over the weekend but reportedly has been addressed.
In a release Monday, Re-1 Superintendent Lori Haukeness said community members informed the district this weekend of the possible issue and law enforcement contacted the individual. Officers reportedly have assured school administrators there is no current risk to students or staff. Haukeness said staff and law enforcement continue to be alert for any threats.
