George Brauchler served as the district attorney for Colorado’s 18th Judicial District since 2013. Now, he’s eyeing a job as the state’s attorney general.

The Republican candidate is running on a platform geared toward winning approval from the purple state's unaffiliated voters. One such effort is to expand the attorney general’s office to the Western Slope.

“What we need to do is stop subscribing to this 1860s’ model of state government where every agency has to be a horse-and-buggy ride away from the Capitol,” Brauchler said.

KSJD’s Daniel Rayzel spoke with Brauchler on how sunsetting laws could improve enforcement and the proposed initiative to decentralize the attorney general’s office.
