Farmers across the U.S. are facing rising input costs this year, even as federal aid programs continue overall farm income.
A recent report highlights increases in fertilizer, seed, and diesel prices, adding significant expenses for producers heading into the growing season. At the same time, federal aid packages tied to recent trade disruptions have contributed to higher reported farm income - though some experts say those payments don't reflect the underlying health of the agricultural economy.
The update also comes as the United Nations designates 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer, recognizing the growing role women play in agriculture. According to the latest Census of Agriculture, women now make up more than a third of U.S. farmers.
Agriculture remains a major economic driver nationwide, supporting millions of jobs across production, processing, and sales.
