Greetings and happy Friday, mountain bikers!
This is Phil with the Boggy Draw Trail Report for Friday, June 6. After a wet week, trails around Dolores and Cortez are starting to dry out, but conditions vary.
The National Weather Service calls for gusty winds but mostly clear skies today in Dolores and Cortez. Rico may see storms today, with clearer skies expected over the weekend. My wife and friends got caught in rain while hiking Scotch Creek Thursday, and there are still puddles in some areas. A friend reported decent traffic on the Salt Trail Sunday, but wetter areas may still need time.
Please remember: turn back if you’re leaving ruts or tracks. Riding wet trails causes long-term damage.
Ryman Creek Trail remains closed through June 30 for elk calving, though signage may be limited.
We expect areas like Phil’s World and the Inner Loop to be rideable first, with Carpenter Park and Boggy Draw not far behind. Northern trails may take longer due to higher moisture levels. Horse events are scheduled on Chicken Creek trails from June 13–15—please leave trail markings in place until riders remove them.
Trail work continues Tuesday nights—find details on the Southwest Colorado Cycling Association's website. For more updates, check out the Four Corners Mountain Biking Info and MoCo Thursday Facebook pages.
Ride safe and have a great weekend!
