Breezy Winds, Isolated Mountain Showers Today Before Midweek Warm-Up

Ways To Subscribe

A quick-moving trough is bringing changes to our weather today. Expect increasing clouds through the morning with breezy southwest winds this afternoon, gusting up to 25 to 35 miles per hour. Isolated showers and a few thunderstorms will favor the higher terrain of Colorado, while northeastern Utah could see scattered showers later this afternoon into the early evening. The main concerns with any storms will be gusty winds and lightning, with only a limited chance for brief heavy rain.

By tonight, skies will gradually clear and shortwave ridging builds in. That sets us up for sunshine and a warming trend Wednesday through Friday, with temperatures climbing five to ten degrees above normal for this time of year.

Looking ahead, a stronger low pressure system will swing inland on Saturday. That will bring widespread showers across the region, the chance for some light mountain snow, and much cooler temperatures. Unsettled and cooler conditions look to stick around into early next week.
