Trump Administration Appoints New Colorado River Leadership

Ways To Subscribe

The Trump administration has announced new leadership overseeing the management of the Colorado River.

Scott Cameron has been appointed acting commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation, which oversees water and dams across the West, while Andrea Travnicek has been confirmed as assistant Interior secretary for water and science.

Cameron, who has served as a senior adviser on ongoing Colorado River negotiations, has pushed basin states to reach a consensus on new water-use guidelines before federal intervention becomes necessary.

Travnicek previously led North Dakota’s Department of Water Resources and served in the first Trump administration.

The leadership changes come as tensions remain high between the seven Colorado River Basin states, with lawsuits and deep disagreements looming over how to share the river’s dwindling supply.

In their time away from work, they watch a ton of movies (spanning all decades, nationalities, and genres), and tries to listen to one really good album every day.
