Checking In on Area Snow Totals and Avalanche Conditions

Ways To Subscribe

Checking in on area snow totals. I got just under an inch of snow at my home here on the east edge of Cortez, Dove Creek saw about a half inch of accumulation. 5 miles west of Mancos a listener has reported about an inch and three quarters. About one inch of snow fall is reported in Dolores. Bluff received trace amounts. Durango saw about 2 inches of snow fall overall yesterday.

Our corner of Colorado was measured at an overall average of 70% of our typical snow fall for this point in the season, and it’s still falling, so hopefully we have some continued good news there.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center reports a moderate danger of triggering an avalanche above the treeline with lower risk at lower elevations, but todays storm will change conditions rapidly in the mountains, so it’s best to wait this storm system out before heading into the high country.

LP recently moved to the Four Corners from Austin, Texas, where they worked as a Case Manager for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in HOA property management where they were fortunate to learn many different styles of communication and creative thinking/problem solving. In their time away from work, they watch a ton of movies (spanning all decades, nationalities, and genres), and tries to listen to one really good album every day.
