Dry Midweek, Rain and Mountain Snow Late Week, Warm Weekend Ahead

Ways To Subscribe

Dry conditions will continue through midweek as a ridge of high pressure slides east, keeping skies mostly sunny and temperatures above normal. Warm air moving in will allow for above normal temperatures today, though some snow-covered valleys may stay cooler due to lingering inversions.

Changes arrive late Wednesday into Thursday, as clouds increase and a weak storm system moves in. Valley rain and mountain snow showers are expected Thursday and Friday, with snow mainly impacting higher elevations. Temperatures with this system remain fairly mild, which means snow levels will stay high — generally between eight and nine thousand feet — and snowfall rates in the mountains look relatively light and spotty.

By the weekend, high pressure builds back in, bringing drier conditions once again. Temperatures will rebound quickly, returning to well above normal by Saturday and Sunday, with highs running ten to fifteen degrees above average.
