Colorado Governor Hickenlooper Signs Hemp Bill In Cortez

Gail Binkly

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper made a brief appearance in Cortez on Sunday to sign a bill that supports the growing of industrial hemp. Before about three dozen onlookers in City Hall, he signed SB 117, which states that persons with decreed agricultural water rights can use that water to grow industrial hemp. Senator Don Coram and Representative Marc Catlin, both Republicans from Montrose, had sponsored the bill.
