Mancos School District Re-6 has been approved for a $19.8 million grant from the state’s Building Excellent Schools Today, or BEST, program. School-board member Monty Guiles gave the news to the Montezuma County commissioners on Monday. The grant – which is for a major renovation of the K-through-12 campus – is contingent on the passage of a local bond issue to raise matching funds of close to $5 million. The question is expected to go to voters this fall.
