Dolores River Boating Spill To Start June 5th or 6th

With McPhee Reservoir rising about a half-foot a day, reservoir managers are planning a "boating spill" starting Thursday or Friday, June 5th or 6th.

On its website, the Dolores Water Conservancy District says flows into the lake are tapering because of cool weather and decreasing snowpack, but a pulse of high inflow should occur as the weather warms. The precise size and timing of these releases will depend in part on when that sunny weather happens. Managers expect a spill of five or more days, with releases of 800 to 1500 cubic feet per second. Look for more details on the district’s website.
