A 33-year-old energy-company worker drowned Friday when he tried to drive across a water-filled wash in San Juan County, New Mexico.

The Farmington Daily-Times reports emergency responders were not able to reach the truck for two hours after the initial call because of flooding. Ten families were also reportedly left homeless when waters rolled through their rural neighborhood northwest of Shiprock on the Navajo Nation.
