Longtime Cortez weather observer James Andrus told the Montezuma County commissioners on Monday that October’s precipitation was about half of normal in the local area and the extended forecast is for warm, dry weather for at least the next three months.
Snowpack is just a fraction of what it usually is this time of year. All of Colorado is considered abnormally dry, and nationwide there is extreme drought in the South and New England. Andrus said he’s never seen such a pronounced forecast for above-normal temperatures nationwide.
