How Major Construction Projects Can Affect the Local Economy

Four major construction projects are underway in Cortez. Crews are expanding Southwest Memorial Hospital, building a new courthouse for Montezuma County and a new headquarters for Osprey Packs, and putting the final touches on the new Cortez City Hall near Parque de Vida. All of those projects are happening within a one-mile radius. According to Montezuma Community Economic Development Association Economic Specialist Chelsea Jones, these construction projects can have direct--and indirect--impacts on the area's economy. KSJD's Austin Cope sat down with her to find out more.
