Good morning!
I’m Lacy McKay.
It’s time for the KSJD outdoor report
Big thanks to our listener Kathleen for the reminder about an important summer safety issue.
As temperatures climb, it’s crucial to remember that the inside of a parked car can become dangerously hot in just minutes—even with the windows cracked.
On a 90-degree day, the interior of a vehicle can reach 120 degrees or more in less than 10 minutes.
That’s deadly for pets, young children, and people with disabilities who may not be able to exit the vehicle on their own.
Heatstroke can happen fast and can be fatal. So please—never leave anyone unattended in a parked car, even for a short time. Double check your backseat as a busy mind can sometimes be preoccupied with why you’re stopping and forget our preciouses.
If you see someone or an animal in distress, call 911. Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe this summer.
Thanks again, Kathleen, for the great suggestion!
That’s the KSJD Outdoor Report for today.
Also, keep your water bottle with you. If you need a sticker cool enough to keep you from forgetting it somewhere - come by our studio. The new shipment of marmot stickers is in and they need new homes.
