Water Safety Tips for the Holiday Weekend + Dolores River Conditions

Ways To Subscribe

The Dolores River is flowing at 83 cfs near Rico and nearly 200 cfs through Dolores. McPhee Reservoir is around 66% full—looking good for weekend swimming and boating.

As you head out to enjoy lakes, rivers, or pools this Independence Day, keep water safety top of mind:

  • Watch children closely around water
  • Wear properly fitted life jackets
  • Avoid alcohol while supervising or boating
  • Never swim alone
  • Stay alert to fast currents and changing weather

A little caution goes a long way toward a safe and fun weekend outdoors.

Burn bans are in effect—please enjoy official fireworks displays and don’t be that person. For more on local fire restrictions, check out Gail Binkly’s latest newscast.
