Localized critical fire weather is possible today in the Four Corners region of southwest Colorado, with breezy, dry conditions and temperatures slightly above normal.
Smoke from the Stoner and Lee fires will impact visibility and air quality early, especially in Cortez and other southern valleys, before settling in again tonight.
By Tuesday, highs will climb further, and thunderstorms may develop over the central and southern mountains, bringing gusty winds and lightning but little rainfall.
Mid- to late week, a shift in weather patterns should draw more moisture into the region, increasing the chances for showers and storms — with the best odds for wetting rain over the San Juans by Thursday and Friday.
Temperatures will peak midweek before cooling slightly as clouds and precipitation move in.
