A Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight for the southern San Juans and adjacent valleys, with several Flood Warnings still posted for rivers in and around Pagosa Springs. Over the last 24 hours the San Juans picked up one to three inches of rain, and while coverage should diminish by mid-morning, breaks in the clouds will allow scattered showers and a few thunderstorms to redevelop this afternoon—any storm could produce brief heavy rain, small hail, and gusty outflow winds to 20–30 miles per hour. Light rain lingers tonight in the San Juans and southern valleys, and another system arrives Wednesday, bringing more showers and storms—mainly over higher terrain—and another breezy day.
Wednesday night into Thursday a cold front drops temperatures by about ten degrees; most moisture shifts east, but lingering showers are likely with snow levels falling to 7,000–8,000 feet—expect light mountain snow on the higher peaks. Behind the front, drier northwest flow brings mostly clear skies and chilly nights, with many valleys dipping below freezing Friday through Sunday. Stay weather-aware, especially near recent burn scars and along swollen waterways, and continue to heed any flood advisories or warnings.
