Montezuma County officials are growing concerned about a delay in starting foundation work for the new combined courthouse project in Cortez.
Owner’s rep Monty Guiles told the county commissioners Monday that the city has not yet issued a permit for the excavation because the county’s revised site plan was only being submitted by architects this week. Guiles said workers need to start on the foundation as soon as possible because doing concrete work in cold weather is more expensive. Guiles said he believes city staff are trying to get the approval expedited, but there has been “a little culpability” on all sides.
