Boggy Draw Report - June 27th, 2025

Ways To Subscribe

Greetings and welcome to the weekend, mountain bikers!

This is Phil with your Boggy Draw trail update for June 27, just in time to help you plan your next ride. The forecast from the National Weather Service is looking favorable—no major storms on the horizon and a great stretch of days for biking or hiking.

Expect sunny skies and dry conditions. Dolores and Cortez will see highs in the low 90s with some wind, so bring extra water and sunscreen. Rico is looking especially inviting, with highs in the mid-70s and minimal wind—perfect weather for heading up into the high country.

Last weekend, we rode Maverick, Black Goat, and West McNeil. Trails are developing some soft, silty spots that might make your tires feel low or like your bike’s playing tricks. It’s dusty out there, but still fun—especially if you start early or ride into the evening.

If you're looking for a rewarding climb, Hillside offers a great workout. For scenic high-country rides, try Salt Creek from Scotch Creek. The Stoner trail is dry and full of wildflowers, and all downed trees have been cleared—big thanks to Loris and the trail crews.

Also, a big shoutout to the Tuesday night SWCCA volunteers who finished the new "Shush" reroute—please ride lightly as the trail settles in.

Trail Alert: Starting July 9, road work will impact the Colorado Trail South Terminus. Check the San Juan National Forest Facebook page for updates before heading out.

And don’t forget: MoCo’s Thursday night mountain bike rides are a great way to meet other riders and explore local trails. You can always find the latest ride plans and trail info on the Four Corners Mountain Biking Info Facebook page.

See you out there, and have a great weekend on the trails!

Grateful to Janet, Roadie Doug and Jonathan for allowing me to join them as one of the subatomic Electrons that make up the Eclectic Hour that bring a diverse mix of music to listeners, though I would love to join Chris in the Morning on KBEAR in beautiful Cicely, Alaska.
