A quiet start to the day across the Four Corners, but some changes are on the way. This afternoon, a bit of moisture moving in could spark isolated showers and a few thunderstorms, mainly over the southern and central mountains. Most lower elevations will stay dry, with some of that precipitation evaporating before it reaches the ground.
The bigger story arrives Wednesday, when strong winds ramp up ahead of the next system. Gusts between 40 and 55 miles per hour will be common across much of the region, especially in the valleys, creating hazardous travel and increasing fire danger in areas with dry fuels.
After that system moves through, expect a shift toward cooler and more unsettled weather late in the week, with chances for additional mountain snow and a wetter pattern heading into the weekend.
