On Saturday, May 2nd at 1:00pm, The City of Cortez Historic Preservation Board invite the public to join them on a stroll along Montezuma Avenue to discover the stories and landmarks that have shaped the community.
Attendees are reminded to wear comfortable shoes for this guided walking tour during the organization's Heritage Days event. A guide will share stories of the people, businesses, and events that shaped Cortez’s past.

Four Corners Food Not Bombs is a mutual aid group where neighbors help neighbors, and everyone is welcome. They meet Sundays from noon to 1:30 at the Good Sam’s Warehouse in Cortez for a hot, homemade vegan and vegetarian potluck, plus an exchange of books and clothes. Come give what you can, and take what you need.

The Disabled American Veterans Outreach Center offers rides for Veterans to medical appointments and is looking for volunteer drivers to join the team. Vehicles and gas are provided for these trips.

On Monday, May 4th at 7:30pm, Dolores Bike Hostel will host an evening with award-winning journalist and author, Zak Podmore.
Zak's recent book explores Lake Powell's last days and the rebirth of the Colorado River. The event will be held on the outside patio and the airstream bar will be open.

The Cortez City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at City Hall on Roger Smith Ave. starting at 7pm.
May 06 Wednesday
From Wednesday, May 6th until Sunday, May 10th The Ute Mountain Mesa Verde Birding Festival will take place as a fundraiser for the Cortez Cultural Center.
The event will feature daily tours and a banquet with keynote speaker, Sneed Collard III, author of "Birding for Boomers" on the Saturday.

Cortez Recreation Center will be hosting an Adult Co-Ed Sand Volleyball League on Wednesdays beginning June 17th.
All skill levels are welcome. The silver league is for casual, recreational players while the gold league is more competitive.

Every second Thursday of the month, The Sunflower Theatre will host a Spoken Word Open Mic Night at 7:00pm.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own original poetry or prose to share with a warm and welcoming audience. Each reader will have 3 to 7 minutes to share their work.

Hospice of Montezuma is offering a weekly men’s discussion group on Fridays from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
