The Sunflower Theatre will host a Vocal Performance Showcase on Saturday, October 11th from 7:00pm.
This event will provide a joyful evening of vocal performances as both local talents, and international singer and vocal coach Anita Burleson, take to the Sunflower stage. The evening will also feature special guests, MJ Smith and Michael Canzona.

The Sunflower Theatre presents a Stand-Up Comedy Open Mic Night on Thursday, October 16th. Sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Local comedian Laura Ripple will emcee the evening, inviting performers and comedy fans alike to enjoy a night of laughter and community fun at the Sunflower Theatre.

Cortez Public Library will screen eighties classic teen horror movie, "The Lost Boys", on Thursday, October 9th at 5:15pm.
The movie tells the story of two brothers who discover that their town has been taken over by vampires.

As part of their Teen Movie Series, Cortez Public Library will screen "Superman" (2025) on Friday, October 10th at 1:30pm.
This is the brand new movie. Snacks will be available.

Every Wednesday, from 4:00 to 5:30pm , Cortez Public Library will be hosting an after-school program for kids age 9 to 18.
Featuring homework help, snacks, Lego challenges, and various creative activities, the program is open to drop-ins.
Cortez Public Library will host a session on every third Thursday at 3:00pm entitled "Life Affirming Discussions". This will enable attendees to explore positivity and self-care through affirmations, mindful eating, healthy tips, and related topics.

The Cortez Public Library is looking for hobbyists and crafters who are interested in donating their time to teach a two-hour craft class to the community.

The Cortez Public Library hosts Crafts, Conversations & Coffee on Friday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to noon. Local knitter Joy will guide participants in creating their own cotton dishcloths. Supplies are provided, though attendees are encouraged to bring US Size 7 knitting needles. This friendly crafting meet-up happens every third Friday at the library.
Cortez Public Library will host an interactive science lesson for kids and parents on Friday, October 17th at 3:00pm.
This presentation about soil will explain what makes up the world under our feet and is intended for children aged five and up.
