The Sunflower Troupe will present the 2025 Sunflower Shorts Play Festival on the weekend of August the 1st to the 3rd at The Sunflower Theatre.
Featuring six short plays by local and regional playwrights and performed by local actors and directors, the show is sponsored by the LOR foundation.
Audience members will be asked to vote for the "People's Choice" award and the winner will be announced on KSJD and social media.

The Sunflower Theatre will host an evening with Mesa Verde National Park Gen Z Indigenous Rangers as they share their perspectives, traditions and experiences working within the national park system.
This event will take place on Thursday, August the 7th at 6.30pm and tickets or reservations are not required.

The Sunflower Theatre will screen three documentaries in support of HOOVES and the San Juan Basin Mustang Sanctuary on Friday, August 8th at 6.30pm.
The films on show will be "Healing Our Veterans", "Mustang of the Caracas Mesa", and "Heart of Trust". These will be followed by a panel discussion.

The Sunflower Theatre will host a performance by Sihasin on Wednesday, August 13th at 7:00pm.
Sihasin is a multi-award winning duo featuring Jeneda and Clayson Benally of the Dine Nation on bass, drums and vocals with a traditional Navajo backbone bridging folk, rock, world, pop and a little punk!

Cortez Tours and CREA will provide a walking art tour through the heart of downtown Cortez on Friday, August 1st at 4:00pm. Participants can explore four locally-owned galleries and sixteen colorful street murals while uncovering the hidden stories behind the art.

Four Corners Food Not Bombs will provide an opportunity for mutual aid at the pink warehouse at 30 N. Beech Street in Cortez on Sundays from noon to 1:30pm. Everyone is invited, but not required, to bring a vegetarian or vegan dish to share. Needed items include tents, sleeping bags, hygiene supplies, and socks.
