Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum will host local photographer, Kurt Hillman for a class on night sky photography on Wednesday, August 20th at 7:30pm.
Kurt will walk attendees through the basics of night sky photography, including equipment suggestions, camera settings, and composition strategies.
Aug 21 Thursday
Canyon of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum are seeking volunteers to help care for their gardens.
This volunteer opportunity is open to all regardless of experience.

Cortez Public Library will host a session on every third Thursday at 3:00pm entitled "Life Affirming Discussions". This will enable attendees to explore positivity and self-care through affirmations, mindful eating, healthy tips, and related topics.
The Sunflower Theatre will host "Building a Healthy Classroom", on Thursday, August 21st at 5:30pm.
This event is for educators of all grade levels, all subject areas, and all experience levels.
In this seminar, participants will learn how to make simple adjustments in their classroom to create meaningful relationships with students and create an environment that will increase learning.
A new Toastmasters club is forming in Cortez in collaboration with the Montezuma Leadership Network. Meetings will be held at the Cortez Chamber of Commerce on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 5:30 to 6:30pm. All are welcome!
Mesa Verde National Park is hosting three beginner astrophotography workshops with nationally known astrophotographer Don Riddle, on Thursday August 21st to Saturday August 23rd.
Each of the three nights is a stand-alone workshop on how to successfully take photos of the Milky Way. The workshops begin at 7:45 pm and further information is available from jacqueline_rabb@nps.gov

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Cortez will play host to The Colorado Immigration Rights Coalition, Indivisible Montezuma County and Manos Undias for a presentation on Friday, August 22nd at 2:00pm.
Attendees will be able to learn about Colorado and U.S. law in order to better protect themselves and their neighbors.

The Pinon Project will host, "Circle of Mothers", every Monday from 5:30 to 7:30pm. These meetings will allow mothers to connect and support each other. Further information is available from Francelia by calling 505-408-0714.

Stretch and Strength is an exercise class is for people with Parkinson's Disease and their care givers. It is held weekly on a Tuesday at 11 am at The Heart and Core Yoga Studio at 720 East Main Street, Cortez.More information is online at parkinsonrockies.org/exercise.
The Pinon Project will host The Incredible Years Advanced Parenting Class every Tuesday from 1:00 - 3:00pm.This class is for parents and caregivers of children aged from 2 to 10 years.
